I purchased my DFX from White's last April (07) and couldn't be more satisfied and impressed with a detector. White's did a fantastic job with the DFX.

Iwasn't able to get out much last year but one day in August I went to an area not far from me that had been hunted heavily by the locals and I had managed to find a few wheat cents with the DFX along with this little sandal. The sandal had been found at a depth of around 4' or so and came out of the ground just as shiny as the day it was lost. The pictures show it atop of one of the wheats found that day.

I have found many items with my trusty DFX and last week I found a couple of more wheat cents at that same spot. I went back to that heavily hunted area near me to see what else the DFX could bring up that the other people missed. Boy was I in for a real surprise. I had only been out for a short time when I recovered my first target a 1996 memorial cent at around 3' then a 1964 memorial cent at about the same depth. After awhile of not many signals or much to mention I thought I'd call it a day when little did I know I was about to end the day with a great finish.

The DFX alerted me to a target deeper than the others I had been digging and it sounded off a little different than what I had been hearing so I decided to investigate. After pinpointing I cut my plug to recover a target a around 6' or so and was having a little trouble finding the target. Imagine my surprise when I recovered an 1887 Indian head cent that had been picked up by the DFX at around 6' and at least partially on edge at that! I thought I was having a great day. I filled my hole and replaced the plug after double checking everything to ensure there were no other targets in the hole. I stood up and started swinging the 950 coil when not more than 2 feet from where I recovered the Indian head cent I got another interesting signal this time at around 4 to 5' after cutting my plug I recovered a 1943P silver wartime nickel!

I hadn't found either of these coins before with a metal detector and had always hoped to someday and to find both of these with the DFX in the same day not more than 2 feet from each other was a real astonishment. This area had been hunted numerous times by myself as well as others but the DFX nailed both targets and I left with a big smile knowing that the DFX really does see what the others miss.

I congratulate you and thank you for such a great machine. The DFX is a great machine for a novice or advanced user and very easy to use with a display that is easy to read and understand. Believe me I should know...I'm legally blind and your machine works great for me!

Dear White’s,

Just thought I would share with you another good day of metal detecting, I found a couple of new parks that slid under my radar, Thank goodness for Google Earth I located them and I tell ya there's nothing like hunting virgin dirt, I’m really starting to feel very comfortable with my Spectrum XLT.

That combination with virgin dirt made for a very exciting and rewarding day. I found lots of clad and another gold ring, a man’s wedding ring I think, that makes two so far this season my first being a titanium and 14K gold band I found a couple of weeks ago. Anyway I also found a Monte Carlo $1 gaming token from 1996 that was pretty cool and a Susan B dollar a dog tag a Japanese charm. I have no idea what it says and a very nice costume jewelry ring that I thought at first glance was a really good one close but no cigar.

Dear White’s Electronics,

I wanted to pass along another excellent find from my DFX. I detected a yard at a house built in 1774 and found my oldest coin to date. I was detecting for about an hour finding pre 1900's Indian heads and a few wheat backs and then got a solid signal VDI 85-88(quarter) at about 5.5'. When I dug the plug up there was an 1817 large cent in perfect shape in the hole. I also found a military insignia dated to around 1896 linked to a military quarter master. I still have the side and back yard to detect and will definitely be sending along more finds. Thanks for such an awesome detector. The best decision I have ever put my money into.

 Dear White’s Electronics:

Hello my name is Sarah. I wanted to let you know of some recent finds that I have made over the last two days and I wanted to give a great big diamond thanks to White’s Electronics and the DFX!!!

When I met my husband he owned a DFX and metal detected all the time. Some people golf, bowl, and well he looks for lost treasure. I can’t say that I haven’t benefited from some of his finds. I have more rings then I could ever hope to wear. He started bringing home some Gold and I took a little more interest in what he was up to.

Well I decided to give metal detecting a shot this year and purchased a DFX. I started reading the manual and looking at different books on how to use this detector and I can’t believe how simple it is to use.

We were in a park and we were coming up empty. I love the Block edit feature that the DFX has it allows me to hunt in very trashy conditions without pulling lots of trash. It just does what other detectors can’t do it really gets the good stuff. I set the detector up and not five feet away I noticed something half in the ground and half out. I couldn’t tell what it was but after running over it with DFX I knew I had something good. I pulled out a 10k White Gold ear ring with 169 diamonds. My husband just shook his head LOL.

I figure with Gold prices on the rise I would start collecting the gold to sell and keep the diamonds for something special after all they are a girl’s best friend.

We talked about the park we were hunting and if this gold and all these diamonds were just beneath the surface we asked ourselves what really might be there. We went back the next day and not more than five minutes later my husband pulled a 14k white gold neck chain weighing in at 24.6 grams. The gold is starting to add up for us. To end the story I started walking to the adult ball field thinking my husband got it all and stopped myself and said wait a minute there may be more gold here and continued hunting with him.

The area has some history to it and some old house’s made way to these ball parks. I got a deep signal for a half dollar and started thinking silver. What I found was much better I pulled a Green River Whiskey Token from 1935. I thought it was really neat to be able to put this coin together with a web page for a display. The Green River Company sold these tokens to magicians to use in their act as a means of gaining publicity for the company. It’s been a good couple of days and wanted to say thanks for making the world’s best detector and one great hobby.

Dear White’s,

I must share with you what I feel was a special first hunt. Two of my daughters, Leanna 14 and Sarah 12 wanted to accompany me on a Civil War relic hunt. Although they have hunted many times in woodchip playgrounds, this was the first time I thought they were big enough to swing a detector for several hours.

Using my DFX and XLT, we started detecting the site of a Union infantry encampment. The area was open pasture, except for the thickets of two natural springs that ran down either side of the hills. I turned on the XLT and set it in a relic mode so that Sarah would only hear the good signals. Within 12 minutes of swinging the coil, Sarah found a Union eagle button at a depth of about four inches. These are two-piece brass buttons, and they are very light. Sometimes they are not very deep at all, even though they've been in the ground 150 years. Most relic hunters will tell you that a person needs to dig 100 bullets before they dig their first Civil War button, so the way I figure it, Sarah is owed 100 bullets.

Leanna was using the DFX, and she was really wanting to find a "big white bullet"(a Civil War .58 caliber mini-ball). She became almost as obsessed in that quest as Ahab in pursuit of his white whale. Leanna soon had her big white bullet, and several more by the next day as well as her own eagle button! Even Dad managed a few buttons and some bullets in between congratulating the girls.

I thought they did exceptionally well for their first relic hunt. I'm also including pictures of their relics that we put in showcase boxes. Thank you, White’s, for making some of the best detectors available, I would much rather see my daughters digging up historical history than text messaging... which they don't do anyway.
