Prizm III finds Silver coin
Keywords:

Dear Whites,

I just wanted to express how pleased I am with my Prizm III. I have been going on short hunts here and there over the past two weeks since Christmas. On January 7, 2007 I went out to several spots with no luck. I chalk this up to inexperience more than anything else. Later in the evening I went out to a local park with lit tennis courts and playground nearby. Just enough light to see by and run my machine. After about 30 minutes, BINGO! In the sand on the playground a nice hit that delivered a 2000 $1 silver coin. This is probably my 25th coin but I have yet to find something of such value.

I am really enjoying this hobby and many many thanks to Don at the Hobby Stop in Rock Hill, my local dealer. He was extremely helpful in helping me pick out my detector and explained everything about it most thoroughly. Now if he would just point me towards a field of gold..........

Thanks again,
Scott S.

DFX hunts near Argonne National Lab!

Hello White's -

I've been MD'ing for all of two weeks, and to be honest, the DFX was not my first purchase. BIG MISTAKE ON MY PART! I purchased an inexpensive detector from a large mail order house, used it for three days - found lots of foil and pull tabs! I went to my local White's dealer - Hobby Town USA, of Orland Park, Illinois, where the owner, Steve, was most helpful, asked what I planned on doing with the detector. He didn't push the DFX, but rather reviewed his whole stock and went through a short demo with each model using test strips. I told him in no uncertain terms that I wanted a DFX! Took it home, practiced in the local park hunting through wood chips.

Second day out (Wednesday, 11/15/06) with my DFX, I wanted to try it out in the 'real world', so I packed up and went to a place near my home called "Site A". Now, Site A isn't famous, but it should be. It is the original location of the Argonne National Lab., just Southwest of Chicago. It is the burial place of the world's first two nuclear reactors, and had a major role in the Manhattan Project. Yes, two decommissioned reactors are buried there, as well as other research material. I've included some photos of the marker stones on site.

Well, so much for background. I searched around an area that I knew was the site of the dormatory, found some modern clad, but then, the DFX indicated pay-dirt at 7 inches using the stock coins program! In the same hole I found a 1906 Quarter, 1937 Dime and a 1916 Dime (no, not a D - could I be that lucky my second day out?). I was PUMPED! All well worn, but who cares! My first silver! A few feet further on, I got another hit at 2 inches. Was I excited - the DFX said 50 cent piece. Dug it up, it was ... a beautiful 2003 Chuck E. Cheese (local kid's pizza chain) token. Thinking to myself - how wonderful, but strange can a hobby be? From nuclear physics, to silver to pizza, all within 10 feet!

So went my Big Day at Site A, the first of many, I'm sure. I can't wait to see what I'll find next with my DFX once I really learn to use all it's features!

TR Discriminator finds wedding ring!

Hi Whites,

I have been a White's metal detector fan since the early 80s. My first Whites' purchase was a TR Discriminator Model Detector. I had great success with that detector searching at a local school that was within walking distance of my home. One day while detecting there, a man approached me and asked for my help in finding his wedding ring. He had lost it the previous week while mowing his lawn and was sure that his ring was mixed in with grass clippings that he had thrown in a nearby ditch. We went through a huge pile of clippings in the ditch and found no ring. He then said that he may have thrown some clippings in his garden as well, and that is where I found his ring. He was so grateful and offered me a reward which I refused. I still have that old TR Discriminator Model Detector and I now have a Whites Prizm IV as well that I have done well with. I plan to move up to a Whites MXT in the near future.

Thanks Whites for making great detectors that have kept me coming back for over 20 years.

Pete S.

MXT finds relics!

Dear Sirs,

I just wanted to write to you and let you know how pleased I am with your metal detector. I bought an MXT last spring and thought I'd send a photo of my finds for the year. A lot are relics of logging tools from the old log camps in upper Michigan. I found a few coins too here and there.

GMT finds meteorite!
Keywords:

I live in Kingman AZ and I spend a fair amount of time on the computer and also metal detecting. I just got a White's GMT and I saw on a forum that there was an Outing to hunt for meteorites so I attended. I learned a lot and was pointed in the right direction to hunt.

I hunted the first afternoon but nothing, so the next morning I got up, had my coffee and out I went. I think I was the first one out of camp that morning Dec 16th 2006. Well, I returned to the area I was shown, set my machine as was suggested by another detectorist that also had a GMT and after 30 min I got a strong signal. I knew I had a good target. I dug down about an inch and there was a "rock" that was different from the rest. I ran the coil over it and WOW, I knew I had found it. My magnet picked it right up and I returned to camp.

Once at camp I showed my find to a couple of experienced hunters and they confirmed...I had my first meteorite, a 102.6 gram find.........Wow!

Thanks White's, for a great machine.
